In March 2006 the management of Waters Park House recognized the need for a model service such as Still Waters. We found that certain clients had reached their full potential but were not cognitively / physically prepared for community living. With this in mind a project was launched to rectify the shortfall in specialized brain injury supported tenancy environments. This would enable individuals with acquired/traumatic brain injury to benefit from a service that could promote independence, inclusion and quality of life.

RestCurrently, there are no services specific to the acquired / traumatic brain injury client group. Therefore identifying the need for a specific service that will support the need for acute supportive housing that promotes and enables further independence. Current supportive housing provision in Plymouth is not specialized for acquired brain injury, and generally has a generic client base. Therefore, the formulation of Still Waters will meet the need of service users with an acquired/traumatic brain injury in Plymouth and the wider community. Still Waters offers, specialized and bespoke, integrated enablement packages to individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, thus meeting the needs of this unrecognized client group.
